Know us
Prab and I were born and raised in the foothills of the Himalayas in Nepal. Growing up, we enjoyed nature’s offering while protecting the land, fauna and flora. We relied on natural herbs and minerals available in the hills and mountains for our everyday essentials and remedies. These herbs and minerals are proven to provide health and
beauty benefits. While the Himalaya is rich with these rare and natural resources, the people who live here have a different story. Most people have a tough life due to lack of job and market opportunities . As a result, many young people leave the remote mountain villages to find jobs in the cities in Kathmandu, or aboard in Persian Gulf countries. During our visit back home in 2018, we saw a huge social problem in the community we grew up due to this mass exodus of youths. Most of the men left villages to earn, leaving behind young children and women. Kids are growing up without their father to witness their small successes, or mischiefs. Women are having to shoulder additional burden of household chores, and raising children. Another problem we witnessed was that the level of Snow cap on those mountains were not same as when we grew up – they were much smaller. We started Aromalaya with a two-fold vision:
-
- To help the people of remote Himalayan region by bringing their locally grown and collected products to markets globally while educating them on sustainable growing and harvesting
- To make these rare and valuable Himalayan herbs, essential oils, and tea available for consumers globally
Our mission is to create a brand that values natural resources, works to preserve these resources while enhancing the lives of people and communities in the Himalayas. We value Nature tremendously, and only market products after we ensure sustainability of the resource and produced by local and indigenous people.
I am a Nurse by profession, have a BS in Sociology, and have owned Restaurants in NC and FL in the past. Prab is a Natural Resource professional with over a decade of experience in Forestry and Agriculture. We live in Charlotte, NC.
